Hounds Earn #7 Seed in NCAA Midwest Regional

NCAA DII MIDWEST REGIONAL
vs No. 2 Illinois Springfield (34-18)
Thursday, May 14, 12 p.m. ET

The UIndy baseball team officially punched their ticket to the NCAA Division II Baseball Regional for the fourth consecutive year, the NCAA Division II Baseball Committee announced on Sunday night. The Greyhounds earned the No. 7 seed in the Midwest Regional bracket, and will be heading to Springfield, Ill., where they will take on the No. 2 seeded Illinois Springfield Prairie Stars. Illinois Springfield will also host the No. 3 seed, Wayne State (MI), and the No. 6 seed, UMSL, who claimed the GLVC Tournament championship on Saturday.

The Hounds went 2-2 respectively at the GLVC Tournament this past weekend, but with their strong strength of schedule and high PI ranking, earned one of the four bids given to GLVC teams in this year's edition of the NCAA Midwest Regional bracket.

The other half of the Midwest bracket will be hosted by No. 1 seed Grand Valley, who will be playing the G-MAC Tournament champion Kentucky Wesleyan, with the winner of that match up taking on either GLVC regular season champion, Missouri S&T, or fellow GLIAC opponent, Davenport. Both double-elimination Midwest Regionals will be played at the same time Thursday through Saturday, with the winners facing off in a best-of-three showdown at the Midwest Super Regional May 21-23 at the campus site of the higher seeded team. The winner of the Midwest Super Regional will then head to Cary, N.C. for the NCAA DII Championships May 29-June 6.
