SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The University of Indianapolis baseball team dominated Wayne State with a 10-0 victory on Friday, securing the win and advancing in the elimination bracket in the 2026 NCAA DII Midwest Regional.

The Greyhounds' pitching staff, anchored by Ayden Tran, struck out 10 batters and allowed just four hits, completing the shutout. This victory marks UIndy's second triumph over Wayne State in NCAA tournament competition.

Tran delivered a commanding performance on the mound, pitching six scoreless innings and striking out nine batters. The southpaw earned his sixth win of the spring, navigating around five walks. Drake Downing contributed two innings of relief, while Ryker Hughes closed out the game with a hitless ninth.

The game opened with three scoreless innings, but the momentum shifted in the bottom of the fourth. Joey Humphrey, hit by a pitch, advanced to third on a throwing error. Austin Bode's single through the right side brought Humphrey home, followed by Nathan Jessup scoring on a Bret Perry sacrifice bunt. Brayton Bowen's two-RBI single down the left field line extended the lead. At the end of the fourth inning, the Greyhounds led 4-0.

The scoring continued in the fifth. Humphrey and Bode each crossed the plate on a two-RBI single by Perry. Gavin Duran added to the tally after being hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, scoring the third run of the inning. The Greyhounds expanded their lead to 7-0 through five innings.

In the sixth inning, a sacrifice fly by Duran allowed Jessup to score, adding another run to the board. The score was 8-0 after six innings.

The Greyhounds added two more runs in the seventh. Luke Smock stole home on a throwing error, and Humphrey scored from third on Jessup's RBI single.
