INDIANAPOLIS— UIndy women's basketball head coach Ross James announced the addition of Kayla Tucker as an assistant coach for the upcoming 2026-27 season. 

Tucker arrives at UIndy after spending the 2025-26 season at the NCAA Division I level with New Mexico State, where she served as the Aggies' Recruiting Coordinator. 

Before her time with the Aggies, Tucker spent three seasons as an assistant coach for the GAC Regular Season Champions (2023-25), and the 2023 GAC Tournament Champions, Southern Nazarene University, making three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances with the Crimson Storm. While at SNU, Tucker served as the Recruiting Coordinator and Director of Operations and helped develop a three-time GAC Defensive Player of the Year, Conference Player of the Year, and Division II All-American, along with several other All-Conference selections. 

Tucker received her Master's in Higher Education Administration in 2022 from Texas Tech University, where she began her coaching journey as a Graduate Assistant Coach before accepting an Assistant Coaching position at Ouachita Baptist University for the 2021-22 season. 

As a player, Tucker spent three seasons competing at Alabama State as a member of the women's basketball team, earning two conference tournament titles along with two NCAA Tournament bids with the Hornets. Tucker also received her Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Alabama State in 2016.
