Box Score INDIANAPOLIS – In the GLVC Championship Final, the UIndy women's tennis team came up short against UMSL, falling 4-2.

The Tritons got off to a strong start in doubles on courts #1 and #2, beginning with Hannah Tse and Morgan Lint's 6-1 win over Magda Kornijczuk and Silvia Zappoli. Doubles was finished after Aleksandra Lopez and Millie Wileman downed Maelys Thiery-James and Liza Simak 6-2.
UMSL gained a 2-0 lead after Lint took down Simak 6-1, 6-1 on court #4. Tse cushioned that advantage to after overtaking Thiery-James in a narrow first set tiebreaker, and winning the second set 6-1.
Facing a 3-0 deficit, Sofia Cardenas had the response for UIndy, topping Giuliana Cunza 6-2, 6-4 on court #6. Zappoli cashed in another result for the Hounds on court five to keep the match alive, outlasting Anna Favaron in a first set tiebreak, and won the second set 6-4.
The Tritons found their clinching singles win from Wileman, who defeated Kornijczuk 6-4, 2-6, 6-2 on court #3.
UP NEXT
The Greyhounds now move onto Regional competition, where they're currently ranked the No. 8 team in the Midwest. They will know their opponent come Monday evening, at a location to be determined.
