MARION, Ill. — The University of Indianapolis edged out Maryville University of St. Louis with a 7–6 victory on Wednesday night at Mtn Dew Park. The Greyhounds tallied 11 hits, including a home run and a triple, while overcoming a late five-run rally by Maryville in the ninth inning.
Aidan Pearson delivered an impressive performance on the mound, pitching 7 1/3 innings while allowing just one earned run and striking out eight batters. He gave up three hits and three walks, throwing 119 pitches with 73 strikes, and secured his eighth win of the season.
Drake Downing closed the game, pitching one inning with two strikeouts and earning his sixth save.

Austin Bode capitalized on an error in the third inning, tripling to left center before scoring on
Bret Perry's RBI single, putting the Greyhounds ahead 1–0 through three innings.
In the fourth inning, Indianapolis extended its lead with three unearned runs.
Garrett Rusch and
Joey Humphrey were advanced by a throwing error, allowing both to score. Bode followed with an RBI single, bringing in
Carter Thomas to make it 4–0.
Chase Mason added to the lead in the fifth with his sixth homer of the year over the left field wall, pushing the score to 5–0.
The Greyhounds added two more in the seventh when
Joey Humphrey delivered a two-RBI double down the left-field line, scoring both Mason and
Brayton Bowen, increasing the lead to 7–0.
Maryville responded in the eighth with Justin Gorski scoring on Matthew Rauser's RBI single, but Indianapolis maintained a 7–1 lead through eight innings.
The Saints mounted a comeback in the ninth with five runs, highlighted by Rauser's two-RBI double, but Indianapolis held on to secure a 7–6 victory.
