INDIANAPOLIS - The UIndy women's soccer team stumbled on the road, falling 6-0 to the No. 24 McKendree Bearcats.
The Hounds showed toughness early, limiting the McKendree attack early in the matchup with multiple Bearcat shots sent back by the UIndy backline and starting keeper Samarah Arendsen.
Despite this McKendree found their first goal of the game off of their fifth corner kick attempt of the game in the 16th minute.
UIndy saw Jaci Merchant and Mia Bajic attempt shots soon after, but neither found the chance to challenge the keeper of McKendree.
McKendree then regained possession and found another goal that UIndy responded to with a shot on goal by Nicole Schroeder that was saved.
The Greyhounds left halftime down 3-0 after the first 45 minutes and coming out of half the Bearcats added two more to their total before UIndy found a few more shots in the second half.
The game ultimately ended 6-0 with three different Greyhounds finding a shot on goal in Schroeder, Maggie Mentzer and Emma Simpson. Amelia Beer also led all Greyhounds in minutes as she was in action for 87 minutes.
The Greyhounds will return home to take on a pair of conference opponents, closing the week against Southwest Baptist at 12 p.m. this Sunday, Sept. 27th, at Key Stadium.
