INDIANAPOLIS - The UIndy women's soccer team lost at home against the Maryville University Saints 4-0.
The Saints found early success off of a set piece when they scored off the first shot of the game two and a half minutes in.
Maryville followed up the goal with a few more attempts in the following minutes before converting again in the 10th and 19th minutes of action.
After the three early goals Maryville looked to control possession, limiting the Greyhounds' ability to work out of their own half.
As the two teams entered half Maryville had 16 shots, but because of further support from the UIndy backline and midfield only four ended up on target.
When the second half came around the Greyhounds looked more complete. As the half progressed runs from players like Emily DeWitt, Emma Simpson and Ellie Heyob helped open up the field, but unfortunately the Greyhounds were unable to connect on these opportunities.
Before the final whistle the Hounds found their lone shot on goal of the game courtesy of graduate student Morgan Peters off of an attempt from distance on a free kick in the 70th minute which Maryville stopped.
The Saints then knocked in their final goal, and only goal after the first 20 minutes of action.
The Greyhounds will head back on the road to take on Missouri S&T on Saturday, October 3 at 1 p.m.
