Brian Bigam, a 2002 grad of the University of Indianapolis and four-year Greyhound letterman in baseball, returns as an assistant coach for Gary Vaught and the Greyhound Baseball Program.

Bigam came to Indianapolis as both a football and baseball prospect, but chose to concentrate on baseball after his freshman season. Bigam, a southpaw pitcher, pitched in relief in the NCAA World Series as a sophomore when the Greyhounds made their last World Series appearance in 2000.

As a junior starter in 2001, Bigam had his finest season with a 9-1 record and earned All-GLVC and Academic All-American honors. The 2001 University of Indianapolis baseball squad set a school record with 51 wins.

Bigam had a solid senior season despite elbow problems and hernia surgery a week before the 2002 season began. Bigam graduated magna cum laude in math education and returned to help coach the Greyhounds as a graduate assistant in 2003.

After earning his masters, Brian returned to his high school alma mater in Circleville, Ohio to begin his teaching and coaching career. At Circleville, Bigam served as Assistant Varsity Football Coach, Assistant Varsity Girls Basketball Coach, and Head Varsity Boys Baseball Coach. In his four seasons as head baseball coach, Bigam’s baseball squad compiled a 77-34 record and a trip to the Sweet Sixteen in Ohio’s state tournament.

Bigam also had professional coaching experience while in Ohio as a two-year assistant with field manager Mark Mason and the Chillicothe Paints Professional Baseball Team. The Paints were members of the Independent Frontier League.

Bigam is married to UIndy graduate and former track star Nicole (Williams) Bigam. Brian and Nicole have two children, daughter Maddux (‘07) and son Glavine (‘09).
