UIndy Athletics

John Wirtz joins the Greyhound coaching staff in 2008.  He will serve as the third base coach and assist with the infielders.

Wirtz comes to UIndy after a successful 31-year coaching career.  He compiled a 658-232 mark at Cardinal Ritter High School (1971-73) and Roncalli High School (1977-2004), good for a .740 winning percentage.

Coach Wirtz is a member of the Indiana High School Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame (2002).  He is also a member of the Indiana Amateur Softball Association Softball Hall of Fame as a fast pitch player (2004).

A 1971 graduate of UIndy (then called Indiana Central College), Wirtz was a four-year starter on the Greyhound baseball team.  He was an all-conference performer at third base.
