Scott Lawley enters his fifth season as a UIndy Assistant Coach in 2020 after spending 5 years as a player under Coach Gary Vaught. Lawley was a career UIndy Second Baseman from ’09-’13. While working as a Graduate Assistant in 2014 and 2015, Lawley helped with the development of UIndy’s offensive approach. Lawley now spends majority of his time working with the infielders and assisting in the recruiting efforts for UIndy. Lawley continues to work with the hitters on their approach as well as the baserunners while coaching first base.
A 2013 UIndy graduate, Lawley made a total of 206 starts out of 220 possible starts at 2B in a Greyhound uniform over five years. Lawley closed out his career fielding .962 at 2B as well as the UIndy career leader in hit-by-pitch (47), fourth all-time in the UIndy record books in at bats (678), third in runs (178), fifth in hits (195), 16th in RBI (101), and T19th in walks (62).
A two-time second team All-Great Lakes Valley Conference selection, Lawley holds a bachelor's degree in Community Health Education and his Master’s Degree in Strategic Leadership and Design from UIndy.
