Chris Keevers

Indy native Chris Keevers is in his 15th season on the UIndy staff and his fifth coaching linebackers. He had coached the secondary and served as defensive coordinator the previous three years. Keevers was the Hounds' strength and conditioning coach his first seven years.

Keevers' 2001 Hounds led the GLIAC in red zone defense (38.7%) and opponent fourth-down conversions (25%). They ranked second in scoring defense (19.1) and pass defense efficiency, and fourth in turnover margin (+13). The Hounds finished 17th in NCAA II in turnover margin and 29th in scoring defense.

Keevers' 1999 defensive line ranked third in the GLIAC with 38 quarterback sacks. His line recorded 43 sacks in 1998, and 28 in 1997.

Keevers had been defensive line, special teams, and strength/conditioning coach at St. Mary's [CA] from 1991-93.

Prior to St. Mary's, he was defensive line graduate and student assistant at Purdue for three years. As a player there, Keevers was a two-year starter on the defensive line. He was ABC "Player of the Game" vs. Iowa in '87. Keevers' playing career began at Coffeyville CC [KS], where he was honorable mention Junior College All-American.

A graduate of Marshall H.S., he earned a communications degree in '89 and a master's degree in education administration in '91, both at Purdue.

He and wife Alexis have four children: Chris, 14, Jessica, 12, Tucker, 5, and Porter, 3.
