Veteran position coach Kent Kinkade entered the fourth consecutive season of his second stint on the UIndy staff in 2015. The Anderson, Ind., native spent 11 years on the Greyhound sidelines from 1993-2003 and returned in 2012 as the Hounds’ Defensive Line Coach.

In his latest stay on the Greyhounds staff, Kinkade helped the Hounds to a program-record four consecutive conference titles, three NCAA playoff appearances and a stellar 39-9 (.813) overall record -- including a 10-2 mark in 2015.

In his more than 25 years in coaching, Kinkade has worked with multiple positions on both sides of the ball, including spending two seasons at Division II Tusculum as the offensive line coach and equipment manager prior to his return to UIndy.

Kinkade got his start in the late '80s as an assistant at Lawrence North High School in Indianapolis. He then moved to the college ranks as the defensive coordinator at his alma mater, Ashland University, before settling at UIndy.

In his first stint on campus, Kinkade worked with both the offensive and defensive lines, as well as the linebackers. He helped produce a number of all-conference honorees, including two-time first team all-league offensive tackle Pete Koulianos (1997-98) and All-American linebackers Todd Liette (1998) and Josh Gentry (1999).

More recently, Kinkade has worked with all-conference d-linemen such as Lee Campbell (2013-15), Vince Maida (2012-13), Mike Phillips (2013) and Jovone Jordan (2012).

As a player, Kinkade was a three-year starter at Anderson, where he earned All-Conference, All-District and All-America distinction as a linebacker. He led AU to a pair of conference titles and one appearance in the NAIA national playoffs. He also earned Academic All-America® recognition and was named team captain.

The 1983 Anderson graduate earned his Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics with professional preparation in Secondary Education.  He and his wife Susan have three children.
