Riley Deckard joined the UIndy coaching staff in spring of 2018, taking over the Sam Linebackers Coach position.
The Indy native and Cardinal Ritter High School grad helped Greyhounds to a 10-2 record, a GLVC title and an NCAA DII playoff appearance last fall. UIndy’s
38-27 win against No. 19 Fort Hays State in the first round of the playoffs marked the program’s second-ever postseason victory.
Deckard came to the Cirlce City after a successful internship at Division III Thomas Moore College in Crestview Hills, Ky. He served as the Assistant Linebackers Coach as well as the Junior Varsity Defensive Coordinator, helping the Saints to a winning record of 6-4 on the season.
After concluding his playing career at Hanover College, Deckard was a student assistant for his alma mater in the spring of 2017, where he worked with the offensive line.
As a player, Deckard was a four-year letterwinner at Hanover, starting at linebacker for three seasons and being named team captain as a senior. He was honored with the Dutch Struck Mental Attitude Award in 2016.
