Chrissy Roberts joins the UIndy women's basketball staff for the 2020-21 season. The coaching veteran previously spent her entire career at the DI level, including the last 11 seasons as the head coach at her alma mater, Eastern Kentucky University.
Â
"Coach Roberts is going to be a wealth of valuable experience to our program," said Wodrich. "Both her time as a successful student-athlete and and her years of being a head coach will help our program take the next step."
Â
Said Roberts: "I am appreciative and beyond excited that Coach Wodrich is allowing me to become a part of the UIndy program. The student-athletes win on and off the court with Coach Wodrich. Her passion and energy for the game of basketball and her compassion for her student-athletes are extraordinary.
"The team is locked in and dedicated to representing UIndy at the highest level."
Roberts' 11-year stint as the EKU head coach started in May of 2008. She went on to amass 122 wins with the Colonels, including twice guiding them to the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament championship game. She coached nine All-OVC performers, eight OVC All-Newcomer Team choices and two OVC All-Tournament honorees.
As a student-athlete in the late 90s, Roberts was a standout performer for EKU, earning OVC Player of the Year accolades while leading the Colonels to their first-ever OVC Tournament crown and and first NCAA Tournament appearance in 1998. Immediately following her playing days, she spent a season as a graduate assistant for the Colonels before moving on to Tennessee Tech as a full-time assistant. She returned to Eastern Kentucky as an assistant coach for two seasons and moved into that same role with East Carolina for six years before accepting the head job at EKU.

"Chrissy's passion and energy for the game is second to none," added Wodrich. "She is well known in the coaching community and highly respected."
