Laura Thomas will begin her first season as the University of Indianapolis women’s basketball Volunteer Assistant Coach during the 2021-22 campaign. Thomas will be responsible for player development and statistical analysis, along with assisting in theday-to-day operations of the women’s basketball office.
Thomas joins the coaching staff after spending the 2020-2021 season as the Graduate Assistant at Cleveland State University. She spent her junior and senior seasons at the University of Indianapolis, where she started all 57 games of her career as a two-time All-GLVC honoree. As a junior, Thomas led the Greyhounds averaging 14.4 points and 3.3 assists per game en route to earning Third Team All-GLVC accolades. Thomas was then named First Team All-GLVC as a senior, averaging 15.9 points and 2.5 assists per game, helping the Greyhounds to a 19-10 overall record.
Thomas left UIndy as the program’s leader in career free throw percentage, going 83.7-percent from the line in her two years as a Greyhound.
To begin her collegiate career, Thomas spent two years at Northern Kentucky, averaging 1.9 points and 1.0 assists per game.
Thomas graduated from the University of Indianapolis in 2020 with a degree in finance.
