Jody Rogers is in her 17th year as UIndy volleyball coach, entering the 2013 campaign with a 406-180 mark (.693) overall and 165-92 (.642) in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. As the program's all-time winningest coach, Rogers, the 2009 AVCA National Coach of the Year, is among the top 30 of all active Division II coaches in both wins (26th) and winning percentage (26th). The Greyhounds have won 22 matches or more for 14 seasons in a row, made six consecutive trips to the NCAA Tournament and seven overall with Rogers directing the volleyball program. UIndy has reached the NCAA Midwest Regional championship in each of the last four seasons, claiming the title to reach the Elite Eight in 2009 and 2012. The 2012 Greyhounds had the best finish in school history as they beat East Region champion New Haven on the way to the Final Four for the first time in school history.
The 2012 season saw UIndy (31-8, 15-3 GLVC) win 30 matches for the third time in school history on the way to reaching the final four of the 2012 NCAA Championships in Pensacola, Fla. The Greyhounds finished the year ranked 12th in the final AVCA Coaches Poll for the program's fourth consecutive top-15 finish. Rogers was named CaptainU National Coach of the Year after guiding UIndy to its second NCAA regional championship. Senior outside hitter Kristina Kerrigan became the first Greyhound to ever be named Midwest Region Player of the Year, in addition to AVCA First Team All-American, while setter Meghan Binkerd was an AVCA Third Team All-American to become the seventh All-American in Rogers' tenure.
Rogers led the Greyhounds to their third Great Lakes Valley Conference championship in school history and a third consecutive trip to the final 16 of the NCAA Tournament in 2011. UIndy finished with the top record in the GLVC, 15-3, to host the conference tournament, which they won, 3-2, over Lewis with a come-from-behind victory in the championship match. The Greyhounds finished the year ranked 15th in the final AVCA Division II Coaches Top 25 with a record of 24-8 after their appearance in the NCAA Tournament Midwest Regional final. The Greyhounds saw senior outside hitter Kristina Hefferan named AVCA Second Team All-America, AVCA and Daktronics First Team All-Region and First Team All-GLVC and junior outside hitter Kristina Kerrigan was AVCA Honorable Mention All-America, AVCA First Team All-Region and First Team All-GLVC as they became the sixth and seventh All-Americans in Rogers' tenure as head coach. Setter Meghan Binkerd was named AVCA Midwest Region and GLVC Freshman of the Year, the first AVCA Midwest Region Freshman of the Year in school history and third GLVC Freshman of the Year for Rogers. Senior middle blocker Courtney Anglemyer rounded out the award winners being named Third Team All-GLVC.
The Greyhounds followed up their most successful season in school history by making another long run in the NCAA Tournament in 2010. The Greyhounds defeated No. 20 Northern Michigan and host No. 8 Hillsdale to reach the NCAA Midwest Region final for the second season in a row. The Greyhounds finished the season No. 15 in the final AVCA Division II Coaches' Poll after winning 27 matches and reaching the finals of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament. Rogers mentored Cheneta Morrison (second team) and Lyndsay Callahan (honorable mention) on to the American Volleyball Coaches Association All-America Team
Rogers' 2009 Greyhounds had the most successful season in program history, one that culminated in the team's first-ever Elite Eight appearance and a No. 6 ranking in the final AVCA Top 25 Poll. The Hounds, who ranked seventh in Division II in hitting percentage, amassed an impressive 38-2 record on the way to Great Lakes Valley Conference and Midwest Regional championships. Rogers mentored three All-Americans last season -- including first-teamer Morrison -- and was named the 2009 AVCA Division II National Coach of the Year.
In 2008, Rogers led her team to its 10th straight 20-win season, compiling 29 victories against just 10 losses. The team earned a win at the NCAA Midwest Regional for the second straight season, led by GLVC Player of the Year Beth Robbins and AVCA All-American Honorable Mention honoree Kyleigh Turner.
As the 2007 Great Lakes Valley Conference Coach of the Year, Rogers guided her '07 squad to a stellar 33-4 mark. The Greyhounds earned the right to host the GLVC Tournament and later defeated ninth-ranked Hillsdale in the NCAA Regional quarterfinals. UIndy's 3-1 win over Emporia State on Aug. 31 not only started a program-record 25-match win streak, but also handed Rogers her 228th career win, breaking the record for most by a UIndy volleyball coach.
Rogers' 2006 team went 24-10 and made its fifth consecutive trip to the conference tournament semifinals. Heading into 2010, that streak stands at eight, easily the longest active streak in the GLVC.
The 2005 squad went 24-14, including a 10-2 mark in October on the way to a conference finals appearance. Rogers earned her 200th career victory by knocking off top-seeded Rockhurst in the GLVC tournament semifinals as the Greyhounds advanced to the conference finals for the second time in three years.
Her 2003 edition earned the school's first NCAA Tournament berth by winning its first Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament. In the opening round of the national tournament, the Hounds took eventual Great Lakes Regional champion Grand Valley State to five sets, finishing the campaign with the then-best record in school history (29-11, .725). The Hounds ranked nationally in hitting percentage (28th) and blocks per game (12th) at the D-II level.
Rogers served as chairperson of the Division II Women’s Volleyball Committee from 2007-10 and served a stint on the Midwest Regional Advisory Committee in 2004 and 2005.
