WINDSOR, Ontario – The UIndy men's basketball team wrapped up their three-game tour in Canada Thursday night, finishing 1-2 overall.
UIndy's victory came Wednesday night against the University of Western Ontario. The Hounds reached triple-digits in a 100-87 win, and were led by sophomore
Eric Davidson's 34 points on a stellar 8-for-11 mark from 3-point range. Barker added 10 points and 10 assists.
The Greyhounds faced the University Windsor twice, falling 89-79 Tuesday and again 92-86 Thursday in overtime. In Tuesday's narrow defeat the Hounds led by as many as 16 points in the first half, but the Lancers rallied and outscored UIndy 31-18 in the final quarter. Seniors
Jordan Loyd and
Joe Retic each dropped 21 points in the defeat, and
Tyler Rambo added 16.
Extra time was needed to decide Thursday's outcome, as the Greyhounds used a strong fourth quarter to come from behind and force overtime against the Lancers. Again Loyd paced the Hounds with 31 points and 11 rebounds, going 9-for-10 from the charity stripe. Retic, senior
Lucas Barker and freshman
Jimmy King each finished in double figures, and junior
Ernest Maize totaled nine points and nine boards in the loss.
"We faced a very good team in Windsor for a second time," Head Coach
Stan Gouard commented after the game. "We made some great adjustments from game to game and I feel as if we improved each game. We made mental mistakes that cost us (in Thursday's loss) but I love the way we competed especially down the stretch.
"We learned about ourselves and what it's going to take to compete for a championship."
