SALEM, Va.-  The University of Indianapolis' run at the NCAA Championships came to an end Saturday with a loss to Lock Haven, 2-0, at James Moer Complex.  The loss ends UIndy's season, a campaign that saw the Hounds make their first-ever trip to the College World Series.

As in the earlier game today, UIndy starter Megan Russell had to work out of trouble early.  After a leadoff hit and a fielder's choice put runners on first and second with nobody out, Russell got a pair of strikeouts and a flyout to end the jam and keep it scoreless in the first.

LHU (47-6) took the lead in the second on Julia Popovich's double to right.   The Lady Eagles would get another in the bottom of the next frame to stake starter Kristen Erb to a 2-0 advantage.

Erb improved to an impressive 47-5 on the season with the win, and set a new NCAA Division II mark in the process.  The senior posted her 98th career shutout for Lock Haven who will advance to face top-ranked North Georgia Sunday at noon.

Erb kept UIndy to just four hits, two off the bat of Carmen Martinez.  Russell and Jenny Swanson had the other hits for the Greyhounds.

It marked the final game for UIndy's five seniors: Jenny Swanson, Maggie Swanson, Amanda Wendlinger, Sara Agnew and Lindsey Gustine.

Notes:  Russell recorded her 400th career strikeout in the first inning vs. Lock Haven ... Her shutout in the early game Saturday tied Beth Wendlinger's single-season school record (9).
