Women's swimming defeats Butler at Ruth Lilly Pool

Meghan Donahue won two events and earned another runner-up finish Thursday night.

INDIANAPOLIS -
- The University of Indianapolis women's swimming team defeated crosstown NCAA Division I neighbor Butler, 72-23, on Thursday night at Ruth Lilly Center Pool. The Greyhounds (2-2) fell to their other D-I opponent, Marshall, 65-46. The Thundering Herd also beat the Bulldogs, 91-20.

The Greyhounds earned individual victories in the 50 free (Maura Donahue - 24.56), 100 free (Maura Donahue - 53.69), 200 free (Julia Walters - 1:57.76), 100 fly (Samantha Asencio - 1:00.41) and 100 back (Meghan Donahue - 1:00.12). The combination of Maura Donahue, Hayley Good, Walters and Meghan Donahue also won the 400 free relay in 3:37.05.

UIndy earned runner-up finishes with Greta Slabach, Amber Cooper, Asencio and Walters in the 400 medley relay in 4:05.37, Meghan Donahue in the 50 free (25.15), Cooper in the 200 IM (2:13.27) and Jaclyn Luscomb in the 100 breast (1:08.17).

Hayley Good in the 1,000 free (11:06.40), Asencio in the 200 free (2:00.93), Ashlee Fishburn in the 100 fly (1:01.68) and Cooper in the 100 breast (1:08.40) also earned podium finishes by taking third in their events.

Both the men and women are back in action starting tomorrow at Wabash at 7 p.m. for the Woehnker Invitational. The event continues at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
