HANOVER, Ind.- Both the UIndy men's and women's cross country squads took team wins at the Madison Kiwanis Invitational hosted by Hanover College Saturday.
In addition to their team title, the Greyhound men also had the top individual finisher in the men's 5K race.
Mark Martinez crossed the finish line in 16:11.00 to take first place, with
Jacob Fisher crossing in 16:28.00 to take third place.
Sean O'Brien took fourth with a time of 16:29.00, and
Alex Cushman finished in sixth with a time of 16:33.00.
Josh Gornall (ninth-16:47.00) and
Andrew Piropato (10th-16:51.00) rounded out the top 10 finishers in the race.
For the UIndy women,
Stephanie Cave was the top finisher. Cave finished the 5K race in 20:02.00 to take second overall. Greyhound women took second through sixth in the race, with
Haley Wittig (third-20:19.00),
Sutton Knapp (fourth-20:20.00), Coutney Raypole (fifth-20:22.00) and
Michelle Lewis (sixth-20:27.00) coming in as a pack.
Hannah Rucker came in eighth with a time of 20:38.00 and Jackie Howland rounded out the Greyhounds in the top 10 with a 10th place finish in 20:52.00.
Next up for the Greyhounds is the annual Little State race. This year's Little State will be at Indiana University in Bloomington Friday evening.
