MARION, Ind./BLOOMINGTON, Ind.- The Greyhound track and field squads split their time between a pair of meets this weekend, with one group heading to the Indiana Wesleyan Invitational, and another going to Indiana's IU Relays.
In winning the men's weight throw, Royer topped 20 meters again this weekend, tossing 20.46 meters. The mark was good for not only another NCAA automatic qualifying mark, but Royer also bested the previous track and meet records in the event.
Royer also posted an NCAA provisional mark with a 16.22 meter toss in the men's shot put. It is his second provisional mark in the event this year, and was good for third in the event at IWU.
Josh Bass took second in the men's long jump with a leap of 7.03 meters, just 0.05 meters off of the NCAA provisional mark of 7.08 meters.
Carlynn Carter took second in the women's shot put and missed an NCAA provisional mark by just 0.05m with a mark of 13.15 meters. Carter also took second in the weight throw, with a mark of 14.56 meters.
A group of runners went to the IU Relays in addition to the IWU event. Jermel Knidred won the men's 400-meter dash with an NCAA provisional time of 48.99.
Robert Gardner took fourth in the invitational portion of the 400 meter, with a time of 48.14, also good for an NCAA provisional mark.
Next up for the Greyhounds is a trip back to Bloomington for the Indiana DII Open.
