FINDLAY OPEN RESULTS
TAYLOR INVITATIONAL RESULTS

UPLAND, Ind./FINDLAY, Ohio- The Greyhound track and field squads sent competitors to a pair of meets during the weekend, with a group going to the Taylor Indoor Inviational and another going to the Findlay Indoor Track and Field Open.

At Findlay, the Greyhounds' Matt Royer, the two-time reigning GLVC Field Athlete of the Week, busted the school record in the weight throw for the second time this season. Royer tossed a mark of 21.53 meters (70'-7.75"), besting his previous mark of 20.98 meters set earlier this season. The mark is the third NCAA auto-qualifying mark for the UIndy senior this year, and is the third-best thus far on the season in NCAA Division II.

The Greyhounds had four NCAA provisional qualifiers at the Taylor Invitational. The men's 4x400m relay squad of Jermel Kindred, Kyle Schwartz, Robert Gardner and Jerel Flournoy won the event with a time of 3:16.70, good for a provisional mark, and the best time in the GLVC thus far on the season.

A pair of UIndy throwers earned provisional marks in the men's weight throw at Taylor, with Nikko Peebles and Marcus Montgomery (pictured) taking second and third overall in the event. Peebles' toss went for 17.83 meters, while Montgomery was not far behind with a throw of 17.63 meters. The marks are good for the 13th and 17th-best in the nation thus far on the season.

The first Greyhound female of the year posted an NCAA mark at Taylor, with LaTisha Martin winning the women's 400-meter dash with a time of 57.71, almost a full second ahead of the second-place finisher. Martin's time is 23rd-best in NCAA DII so far on the 2011-12 season.

Next up for UIndy is a trip to IU's Hoosier Hills Invitational this weekend.
