FLORENCE, Ala.  – The No. 7 UIndy softball team (7-1) opened the 2013 North Alabama Invitational Friday with a pair of victories, blanking Delta State, 7-0, before taking down Miles, 12-4.

GAME ONE

UIndy downed the Lady Statesmen (4-3) behind a complete-game gem from pitcher Jennifer DeMotte.  The Indianapolis native notched her second shutout of the season, tossing a two-hitter and striking out five.

Offensively, the Hounds tallied single runs in the third and fifth innings before hanging a five spot in the sixth.  Bailey Wittenauer and Casey Williamson each had two hits and two RBIs, while Erika Goodwin chipped in a RBI double.

GAME TWO
Williamson and DeMotte, UIndy's three and four hitters, combined for five hits, four runs and five RBIs versus Miles in night cap.  Williamson was a homer shy of the cycle, while DeMotte had a mammouth three-run blast in the third.

Freshman pitcher Morgan Foley got the win by fanning eight in just four innings of work.

The action at the UNA Invite continues tomorrow, as the Greyhounds take on Shorter University at 4 p.m. Eastern, followed by a match-up with the host Lions at 6 p.m.
