LEBANON, Ill. – The No. 2 UIndy softball team (24-2, 6-0 GLVC) continued its win streak with dominating pitching performances Saturday at McKendree.  In taking down the host Bearcats 6-0 and 9-0, three Greyhound pitchers combined to allow just one hit all day, as freshman Morgan Foley recorded her second no-hitter of the year in game two.

GAME ONE

Senior Jennifer DeMotte and freshman Lauren Swenson combined to shut out McKendree, 6-0, in the opener.  DeMotte (12-0) got the win by allowing just one base runner in five innings, while Swenson pitched two scoreless frames in her collegiate debut.

Leading 1-0 after four innings, UIndy put the hammer down with five runs on six hits in the top of the fifth.  Casey Williamson and Alexa Alfaro each had a double in the frame, while Samantha Krcelich crushed a two-run homer to put the game out of reach.

GAME TWO
Foley (12-2) dismissed all but two Bearcats hitters in her sixth shutout of the season.  The freshman phenom fanned 12 hitters and walked zero, as a hit batsman and an error accounted for the only McKendree base runners.

Foley has amassed double-digit strikeout totals in seven of her last eight appearances.  She entered the week ranked fifth in Division II with 11.0 strikeouts per game, but raised that mark with 28 Ks in 13 innings pitched this weekend.

Offensively, UIndy plated two runs in the first inning before pushing across five in the fourth.  The five runs in the decisive fourth were driven in on consecutive swings of the bat, as Taylor Russell delivered a bases-loaded single one batter before Williamson smacked a three-run bomb.

The Hounds made the seventh inning unnecessary with two more tallies in the sixth.

Assuming cooperation from Mother Nature, the Greyhounds will finally play games at home next weekend.  The Greyhounds host Wisconsin-Parkside Friday, Mar. 29 at 12 p.m. and Lewis Saturday, Mar. 30, also at noon.
