KISSIMMEE, Fla. – The fourth-ranked UIndy softball team (18-2) capped an undefeated stint at the 2013 Rebel Spring Games with a doubleheader sweep of in-region Saginaw Valley State Thursday.  The Greyhounds' virtual clinic in Kissimmee, Fla., included a spotless 8-0 record to up its overall win streak to 11.

During their eight contests in the Sunshine State this week, the Greyhounds out-hit the opposition .340 to .122, while the UIndy pitchers combined for a miniscule 0.71 ERA.  The Hounds out-scored their Spring Break opponents 67-10 while run-ruling half of them.

GAME ONE
With that being said, UIndy needed all seven innings to pull out the win in Thursday's opener.  With the score tied 1-1 heading into the final frame, the Hounds quickly put two runners on base with a leadoff single from Bailey Wittenauer and an HBP from Sydney Russell.

A sac bunt from Krysta Bradford moved both runners in scoring position, allowing pinch-runner Jessica Vleck to score the game-winning run on a wild pitch.  UIndy tacked on one more for good measure on Erika Goodwin's single up the middle.

The Cardinals (4-6) managed two runners in the bottom of the seventh but neither advanced past second base, as senior pitcher Jennifer DeMotte induced consecutive comebackers to end the threat and the game.

DeMotte moved her record to 9-0 in the circle after giving up just one run and fanning seven in the complete-game effort.

Wittenauer was the lone Greyhound with multiple hits, as the Lewisville, Texas native added a second-inning solo homer to her clutch base hit in the seventh.

GAME TWO

The Hounds wasted no time in grabbing the lead in game two, jumping on the Cardinals with two tallies in the first.  Goodwin set the table with a leadoff walk and a stolen base, and Casey Williamson and Alexa Alfaro followed with RBI doubles.

UIndy's third and final run came in the second inning when Krysta Bradford came around on a sacrifice fly from Taylor Russell.

Meanwhile, freshman pitcher Morgan Foley was nothing short of brilliant, striking out each of the first nine Saginaw Valley batters on the way to her first collegiate no-hitter.  Foley finished with 14 Ks, with merely a hit batsman in the fourth and a fielding error in the sixth preventing a perfect game.

UIndy's weekend plans recently cleared up, as the team's scheduled home games this Saturday and Sunday have been canceled due the snow accumulation.  Up next is a trip to Springfield, Mo., to face the Drury Lady Panthers Saturday, Mar. 16.
