Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

INDIANAPOLIS – The No. 1-ranked UIndy softball team (36-2, 18-0 GLVC) upped its win streak to 29 games with a doubleheader sweep of visiting Southern Indiana Saturday afternoon, 4-3 and 8-0.  In addition to the action on the field, the team honored over two dozen former Greyhounds as part of the team's annual Alumni Day festivities.

GAME ONE
After trailing 3-0 after 3 1/2 innings, the Greyhounds came back with three unearned tallies in the bottom of the fourth; both Bailey Wittenauer and Kelsey Rummel recorded RBI doubles in the frame.

Rummel notched her third RBI of the game by driving in Samantha Krcelich with the winning run in the sixth inning.

Pitcher Jennifer DeMotte moved to 17-0 in the circle with a complete-game win.  Though she allowed a season-high eight hits, the senior persevered by holding the Eagles (19-14-, 9-11) scoreless for the final four innings to give the Greyhounds a chance to comeback.

Saturday's second game went much smoother for the Hounds, as the shutout win came in the minimum five innings.  Freshman pitcher Morgan Foley (19-2) allowed just one hit and struck out eight in her sixth shutout of the season.

UIndy jumped on the Eagles early with a pair of long balls and six runs in the first inning.  Casey Williamson delivered her team-high ninth home run with a three-run bomb in the frame, while freshman Jenny Thompson (pictured left) notched her first collegiate dinger with a two-run shot.

DeMotte, now playing center field, made a nifty running grab in the top of the fourth, then led off the bottom half of the inning with a double to center.   She later touched home on a two-bagger from Alexa Alfaro before Thompson capped the scoring with an RBI single.

UIndy remains at home to host Kentucky Wesleyan at Baumgartner Field Sunday, Apr. 14.  First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for noon Eastern.
