INDIANAPOLIS – The top-ranked UIndy softball team (38-2, 20-0 GLVC) generated 22 runs in just 11 times at bat Sunday, downing visiting Kentucky Wesleyan 11-1 and 11-2 in two abbreviated games.  Sophomore Taylor Russell hit a solo home run in the first inning of game one, while sophomore Casey Williamson smashed a game-ending two-run shot in the sixth inning of game two.

The Greyhounds are a perfect 20-0 in conference play and have won 31 consecutive games -- two shy of the school record set last season.

GAME ONE

UIndy sent 12 batters to the plate in the first inning, pouncing on the Panthers for eight early runs.  Russell drove in half the runs herself, thanks to a solo homer and a bases-loaded double.

Three more Greyhounds touched home in the fourth inning when junior Alexa Alfaro deposited a 0-1 offering over the center field fence.

Starting pitcher Jennifer DeMotte (18-0) was credited with the win after surrendering just one run in four innings of work.  All three of the hits she allowed were singles.

Meanwhile, freshman Coryn Tirpak garnered her sixth appearance in the circle, tossing a perfect fifth inning to close the game.

GAME TWO
UIndy again put up a crooked number in the first inning; Williamson's two-run shot to straight away center fueled a five-run rally.

Goodwin HR smile
Senior Kelsey Rummel added a two-run single in the third inning before the Hounds sent KWC home with a pair of opposite-field bombs in the sixth.  Freshman Erika Goodwin led off the frame with a solo shot that was followed by Williamson's game-ending, two-run bomb.

Goodwin's homer – like Jenny Thompson's a day earlier – was good for her first collegiate round tripper.

Pitcher Morgan Foley (20-2) went the distance in game two as the freshman struck out six while allowing two runs in six innings.

UIndy travels to Cedarville, Ohio Wednesday, Apr. 17 for a recently-added doubleheader at Cedarville University.  First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
