Greyhounds dismiss Pumas in three sets

RENSSELAER, Ind. – The Greyhound volleyball squad upped its winning streak to four in a row with a 3-0 (25-19, 25-17, 25-18) sweep against a familiar foe in Saint Joseph's.

UIndy (15-8, 12-2 GLVC) also remained atop the Great Lakes Valley Conference East Division while extending its dominance over the Pumas (9-15, 3-11). The victory marked the 26th in a row over the Pumas, who have not defeated the Hounds since Nov. 4, 2000, losing 18 of the 26 by way of 3-0 sweep. The Greyhounds domination over the Pumas has seen them take 78 of 86 sets played during the streak.

The Crimson and Grey hit .318 as a team (compared to Saint Joseph's .152), totaling 40 kills and 12 errors on 88 attempts. It marked the fourth-highest team hitting percentage of the season.

UIndy finished with more kills (40 to 30), digs (37 to 29) and service aces (7 to 4) than the host Pumas.

Reigning GLVC Baden Offensive Player of the Week Hailey Brown racked up 11 kills, hitting .292 (11-4-24). Freshman Becca Lira also totaled 11 kills, posting a .471 attack percentage (11-3-17). Senior Meghan Binkerd finished with 33 assists in the sweep.

Fellow senior Kimberly Trojan once again paced the Hounds defensively, totaling 17 digs.

UIndy hits the road for the final road trip of the regular season, facing Quincy Saturday at 6 p.m. ET and 23rd-ranked Truman State Sunday at 2 p.m.
