Men's Soccer wins fourth-straight with 1-0 W over UIS

INDIANAPOLIS- UIndy men's soccer won its fourth straight match in Great Lakes Valley Conference play on a rainy Friday night at Key Stadium, taking a 1-0 win over visiting Illinois Springfield.

The game's lone goal game about seven minutes into the second half, after the teams managed just five shots in the rain-soaked first half of play. Jacob Meyer put away his team-leading third goal of the year at the 52:24 mark, taking a ball through the middle from Daniel Wellmann and sending it past the pulled out Prairie Star keeper.

In all, UIndy (4-3-2; 4-2-1 GLVC) took 11 shots on the match to Illinois Springfield's one. The Prairie Stars (2-7-0; 0-7-0 GLVC) took five corners to UIndy's three. Andrew Verhonik was the winner in the net, without having to make a save on the night.

The Greyhounds host Southern Indiana in league play Sunday at 2:30 p.m. EST to close out the weekend.
