LOUISVILLE- The UIndy men's soccer team completed the weekend sweep, taking a 2-1 win at Bellarmine in GLVC play Sunday.
The Greyhounds (3-3-2; 3-2-1 GLVC) took the early lead in the match, with
Casey Zimmerman finding the back of the net for the first time this season. Zimmerman took a pass from
Daniel Wellmann on the left side, and shot it past the Knight keeper into the right side of the net to stake UIndy to the 1-0 lead.
The score would stand 1-0 for another 60 minutes, until
Jacob Meyer's second goal of 2014 put UIndy ahead 2-0 at the 66:46 mark. Meyer took a cross from
Ngwese Ebangwese and shot the ball into the left corner of the frame to give the Hounds the 2-0 advantage. Bellarmine would tally its only goal of the contest less than a minute later, with Kai Qualah scoring his fifth goal of the season on a header.
Patrick O'Brien's four shots led UIndy, with the Greyhounds out-shooting Bellarmine 15-11 in the match.
Andrew Verhonik made three saves on the day, in facing 11 shots.
The Greyhounds return home to Key Stadium next weekend, hosting Illinois-Springfield and Southern Indiana Friday and Sunday. The Prairie Stars and UIndy will kick at 7:30 p.m. Friday, with the Greyhounds hosting Alumni Night.Â
