INDIANAPOLIS- UIndy men's soccer opened the 2014 slate Friday, taking a loss to visiting in-region foe Northwood 1-0 at Key Stadium.
The teams played through a scoreless first 45 minutes, with the Greyhounds (0-1-0) winning the shots battle 4-1 in the first half. UIndy was also awarded five corner kicks in the first half to the Timberwolves' one.
A set-piece goal at the 73:20 mark lifted Northwood (1-0-0) to the victory. Andrew Nugent headed a corner kick into the box by Keaton Levock home to give the Timberwolves the 1-0 win.
Casey Castle and
Ngwese Ebangwese each took a pair of shots for the UIndy offense, while
Andrew Verhonik took the loss in goal.
The Greyhounds look to rebound versus another GLIAC opponent Sunday, as they host Tiffin at Key Stadium in a 2:30 p.m. match.
