Herendeen named to U.S. Paralympics Swimming National Team

COLORADO SPRING, Colo. – UIndy senior Dalton Herendeen was one of a select few named to the 2015 U.S. Paralympics Swimming National Team, announced recently by U.S. Paralympics, a division of the United States Olympic Committee.  In all, 14 athletes, including six reigning world champions, were name to the A Team, while Herendeen and 11 others were named to the B team.  An additional 15 athletes were named to the emerging and military teams.
 
"With Rio (site of the 2016 Paralympics) right around the corner, we are thrilled to have such a gifted group of athletes," said Queenie Nichols, high performance director for U.S. Paralympics swimming. "Our 2015 roster is made up of not only decorated and consistent veterans but also new faces who continue to impress. I'm eager to see what 2015 holds for this group of outstanding athletes."
 
A veteran of international competition, Herendeen will join his teammates in Toronto Mar. 20-22 for the Can-Am Para-swimming Championships.  Last August, the Elkhart, Ind., native won the silver medal and set the American record for the SB8 100 breaststroke at the 2014 Pan Pacific Para-Swimming Championships.  He also competed for Team USA at the 2012 Paralympics in London, finishing ninth in the S10 400 free.
