THE FINAL WHISTLE
Final: UIndy 3 – Southern Indiana 0
Records: UIndy 4-3-2 (3-3-2 GLVC) | Southern Indiana 3-5-1 (1-5-1 GLVC)
Location: Strassweg Field – Evansville, Ind.

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Indianapolis men's soccer team set a new season high for goals in a game, scoring late in the first half and adding two more in the second half on their way to a 3-0 win over Southern Indiana University on Friday night in GLVC play.

The win moves the Greyhounds to 4-3-2 on the year, vaulting the squad over the .500 mark for the first time this season.

GAME CHANGER
With less than 10 minutes to go in the opening half, junior Jacob Meyer found a loose ball, maneuvered into the box and ripped a shot past Screamin' Eagle goalkeeper Auston Bruder for his second goal of the year, coming in the 36th minute.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
Meyer would add his second goal of the night and third of the year in the 82nd minute on another unassisted tally, giving him three on the season and the top spot among all Greyhound goal scorers through nine matches.

Sophomore defender Noah Zorniger netted the Hounds' other goal in the 76th minute, heading home a corner kick from David Kurz. It was the first career goal for the Avon, Ind.-native. Kurz' assist on the goal was his first helper of the season.

For the ninth consecutive match, the Greyhounds held a decisive advantage in the shot department, outshooting the Screamin' Eagles 17-6 on the night. Shots on goal were 10-2 in favor of UIndy. Meyer and Benjamin Sierra led all players with four shots each.

Christopher Jones wasn't tested much in net, needing only two saves to notch his fifth clean sheet of the year.

Friday's match snapped a six-match streak in which the Greyhounds went past regulation with their opponent.

COACHES' CORNER
Head coach John Higgins: "We knew we were going to get USI's best tonight and we did. They came out with a ton of energy and really took it to us. This is always a tough place to come and play and we were able to match their intensity and get a few goals that maybe we shouldn't have. And for our guys, it was great to see them bounce back after a tough loss to Quincy last week."

"Right now, we're in a position where we really need wins. After the game I told the guys tonight was a game that needed. I felt like USI played better than we did for stretches tonight and for us to get a win when we didn't necessarily play our best is big. One big reason why was our ability to hit the target tonight. There have been times we've struggled to get shots on net and tonight our guys did a great job of getting balls on net and it paid off for us."
