Comeback win highlights senior day for women's soccer team

THE FINAL WHISTLE
Final: Drury 1 – UIndy 2
Records: Drury 8-4-4 (7-4-3 GLVC) | UIndy 4-8-4 (3-7-4 GLVC)
Location: Key Stadium – Indianapolis, Ind.

INDIANAPOLIS – Facing an early first half deficit, the University of Indianapolis women's soccer team rallied with a pair of goals midway through the first half to earn a 2-1 comeback win over Drury University on Senior Day at Key Stadium.

Before the match, the Greyhounds honored seniors Lindsey Adams, Lindsey Bryant, Jessica Bentley, Taylor Cotherman and Kiara Elliott, and all would play a major role in the Hounds' second consecutive win.

GAME CHANGER
With the game tied 1-1 in the 34th minute, UIndy's Jocelyn Evans picked up a rebound on her own shot right in front of the net and deposited the loose ball into a yawning cage for her third goal of the year and second straight game-winning marker. With the goal, Evans moved into a tie for the team lead in points with eight (3G, 2A).

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
UIndy got the equalizer in the 26th minute when freshman Sierra Singer took a feed from Lindsey Adams and let a shot go from 20 yards out that beat Drury goalkeeper Taylor Pemberton top shelf. It was Singer's fourth goal of the year, moving her into a tie with Stephanie Burdsall for the team lead.

Drury held a 20-10 advantage in shots, outshooting the Hounds 13-2 in the final period. Drury had an opportunity to even up the game late when Emily Cline broke in on goal uncontested, but was shut down when Cotherman was able to recover on defense and take the ball away from the Panthers' forward and prevent a scoring chance.

Emma Crenshaw made 11 saves in goal for the Greyhounds, stopping all seven shots faced in the second half.

Kerri Morris had the lone goal for the Panthers, opening the scoring in the 15th minute following a give-and-go with Mariah Gove. Pemberton made three stops in the first half before being relieved by Tina Haberberger at halftime.

HEAR IT FROM THE HOUNDS
Senior Taylor Cotherman: "We came out with a sense of urgency today. It was great to play a really good team on Senior Day and come away with a win. Anytime you win, it feels great but this one feels that much better."

Senior Lindsey Bryant: "I think we just wanted it more today. Everyone played with a fire today and when you see your teammates making plays on the field, that carries over to the rest of the team. We got those two goals in the first half that gave us momentum and we were able to carry that with us to a win."

Head coach Holly Cox: "This one felt awesome. To come back from down a goal against a good team really shows the character of this team and to win on Senior Day just made it that much sweeter. Our kids have gained a lot of confidence over the last few games. They've played really well and finished some really good goals right in front of the net. We're looking to finish on a high and we'll be ready to go on Wednesday.
