THE DETAILS
Final: UIndy 0 – Lewis 0 (2OT)
Records: UIndy, 1-1-1 (0-0-1 GLVC) || Lewis 0-2-1 (0-0-1 GLVC)
Location: Lewis Stadium – Romeoville, Ill.

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The UIndy men's soccer team kicked off GLVC play on Friday night under the lights against the Flyers of Lewis University.

The two teams engaged in a hard-fought battle for 110 minutes, but neither squad was able to find the back of the net and the match ended in a 0-0 draw.

GAME CHANGER
After not facing a single shot on goal in the first half, Greyhound goalkeeper Christopher Jones stood tall when the Flyers made their push in the second half. Jones turned aside a header in the 55th minute and another shot in the 79th minute to keep Lewis off the board. Two minutes into the first OT, Jones made his biggest stop on another head to preserve the tie.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
The Greyhounds held the held the Flyers without a shot for 43:54 to open the match and took a 5-1 edge in shots into the locker room at halftime.

David Kurz, Zak Mitiche and Julian Shamsaie all finished with three shots to lead the Greyhounds. UIndy held a 13-12 advantage in shots in the game.

Jones finished with a trio of saves to earn his second consecutive clean sheet and extend his scoreless streak to 223:53.

Justin Salazar also finished with three saves, earning a shutout for the Flyers. Krystian Nowak came off the bench to lead the Flyers with six shots and a pair of shots on goal.

HEAR IT FROM THE HOUNDS
Head coach John Higgins: "I was happy with the result tonight. This is a really tough place to place and we knew they were going to come after us all night. I thought we were dominant in the first half and we looked really good. In the second half, the game got chippy and Lewis was able to generate some quality chances. But we matched their intensity and it was good to see that kind of battle from our guys on the road."

"Any questions we had about this team coming into tonight were answered. We passed it really well and we battled hard. Sometimes that doesn't always equal wins in the GLVC, but I feel like our guys passed a real good test tonight. If we can carry tonight's performance over to Sunday, we feel like we'll have a real good chance to win."

"I told our guys it was a great start to the weekend. We're still looking to put together a full game where we have quality performances on the ball and find the back of the net. But this is a really tough place to play and to walk out of here with a clean sheet is a really good result for us."

UP NEXT
The Greyhounds return home on Sunday afternoon when they welcome the University of Wisconsin-Parkside to Key Stadium for a GLVC showdown. Kickoff is set for approximately 2:30 p.m.
