ST. LOUIS – Junior goalkeeper
Emma Crenshaw set a new single-game career-high with 14 saves for the UIndy women's soccer team on Sunday, as the Greyhounds were able to withstand an offensive onslaught from Missouri-St. Louis on their way to a 1-1 draw.
Â
GAME CHANGERCrenshaw stopped seven of eight shots she faced in the second half, but none bigger than a stop with time winding down in the match. After the Tritons were awarded a penalty kick in the 81st minute, Crenshaw stoned Kayla Delgado to keep the game tied 1-1. Crenshaw has stopped both PKs she has faced this year.
BEYOND THE BOX SCOREAfter going the previous three matches without a goal, the Greyhounds grabbed an early 1-0 lead in the 10
th minute off the left foot of
Jocelyn Evans. The junior midfielder took a feed from
Kiara Elliott and fired a shot from 15 yards out for her first tally of the year. The assist was also Elliott's first point of the season.
Senior
Taylor Cotherman and freshman
Michele Govern each had a pair of shots on goal to lead the team. But the offensive pace was controlled by the Titans, who held a 34-7 advantage in total shots on the day.
Â
UMSL got the tying goal in the 69
th minute off the foot of Baylee Williams. Taylor Tosovsky had a whopping 10 shots on the day and Delgado finished with seven. Both strikers were denied on the only two shots on goal in overtime. In goal, Megan Ohm turned aside five Greyhound shots.
