INDIANAPOLIS – Facing off against one of the top teams in the GLVC, the University of Indianapolis women's soccer team came up just short on Friday night, dropping a 1-0 decision to Truman State University.

The defeat drops the Greyhounds to 1-5-1 on the year and leaves them without a win in their last five matches.

GAME CHANGER
The Bulldogs netted the game's only goal on their first shot of the contest in the 32nd minute when Alexis Heffernan's rising shot grazed off the outstretched fingers of Greyhound goalkeeper Emma Crenshaw and trickled across the line.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
UIndy had a chance to even up the game less than a minute into the second half, but was done in by the crossbar. Junior Hannah Mangus pounced on a loose ball and let a rising shot go from 25 yards out, but caught nothing but iron.

Taylor Cotherman had a pair of quality chances in the second half for UIndy, but her chances in the 69th and 86th minutes were blocked by Bulldog defenders before reaching the net.

UIndy held a 10-6 edge in shots. Crenshaw stopped three shots for UIndy, who held a 4-3 advantage in shots on goal. Cotherman led all UIndy attackers with three shots while Mangus, Lindsey Adams and Elizabeth Behrends all recorded a pair of attempts.

Heffernan led all players with four shots and Katie Mattingly turned aside three sheets to earn the shutout.

UP NEXT
UIndy will be back on their home turf on Sunday afternoon, taking on the unbeaten Hawks of Quincy University. Kickoff from Key Stadium is set for noon.
