INDIANAPOLIS –
Jake Meyer potted his team-leading third goal of the year to provide all the offense needed for the Hounds to notch their second consecutive win, a 1-0 victory over Bellarmine.
Â
GAME CHANGER
The Greyhounds came out swinging and cashed in for the game's lone goal just 2:45 into the match.
Mase Koki sent a cross in from the right side that a streaking
Ben Rohder let go past him and right to Meyer, who hammered home a shot into the top right corner for his team-leading third goal of the year.
Â
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
Making his first start in front of the home crowd, Koki picked up his first career assist on the game's lone goal and finished with one shot on goal.
Â
Miles Palmer picked up his fourth shutout of the year, making five stops on the night to improve to 3-1-2 overall. The London, England-native made his biggest saves in the sixth minute, stopping a pair of Bellarmine chances from in close to preserve the one-goal lead.
Â
COACHES' CORNER
Head coach John Higgins: "We really got off to a good start tonight and kept that going after the early goal. For the rest of the first half, we were really technical when we had the ball and our defense was spectacular when we needed to call on them. Defensively, we're really starting to click and I thought everyone was committed to playing defense all night."
Â
"Now that we're into October, you need to be able to defend if you want to keep winning games in this league. In the second half, we sat back a little bit too much and we really weren't as crisp on the attack as we were in the opening 45. All 11 guys out on the field were dialed in on defense and Miles really wasn't tested after their two chances in close early on. If we turn in that kind of effort defensively each game, we're always going to give ourselves a chance to win.
