INDIANAPOLIS – The University of Indianapolis women's soccer team concluded their weekend homestand on Sunday against the Screaming Eagles of Southern Indiana.

The Hounds and Screaming Eagles traded chances throughout the entire match, but a USI goal midway through the second half ended up being the difference in a 1-0 USI victory.

GAME CHANGER
In the 65th minute, Southern Indiana's Carlie Scales found the back of the net for the game's lone tally after Kelsey Smith played a ball into the 18-yard box that went off a pair of Greyhound players and right onto Scales foot where she made no mistake. It was her third goal of the season.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
Just minutes before the game-winner, UIndy had a golden chance to take the lead for themselves.
Stephanie Burdsall was awarded a penalty kick in the 60th minute after being hauled down in the 18-yard box, but her attempt to go low right was met by a diving save from USI goalkeeper Emily Hopkins.

Shots were 14-11 in favor of the Screaming Eagles with UIndy holding an 8-5 edge in shots on target. A total of 10 different Greyhounds recorded at least one shot with
Amanda Meyer leading the Hounds with four shots, three of which were on target.

th consecutive start between the pipes, senior
Emma Crenshaw made four saves for the Greyhounds. At the other end, Hopkins stopped all eight shots she faced to earn the clean sheet.

UIndy will head out on the road for their next two contests. First up for the Hounds is a showdown with the Hawks of Quincy University on Friday, Oct. 7. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. central time.
