KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The Greyhound women's soccer team fell in an early two-goal hole to No. 10-ranked Truman State University and couldn't recover, eventually falling to the Bulldogs by a 3-0 score.
Â
GAME CHANGER
The high-powered Truman attack wasted little time getting on the board, scoring just a little more than 11 minutes into the contest. The game-winner went to Laure Ney, who headed home a Megan Whitehead corner kick for her second goal of the season.
Â
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
Less than eight minutes later, the Hounds found themselves down by a pair after Kelsey Murphy stuck home a penalty kick. Whitehead would cap the scoring in the 59
th minute, scoring off a feed from Murphy.
Â
UIndy had a pair of chances to get back in the game in the first half. Just after the opening goal,
Stephanie Burdsall recorded the Hounds' first scoring chance of the day and shortly after the second Truman tally,
Sierra Singer generated a quality chance. Both shots were turned aside by Turman goalkeeper Katie Mattingly.
Â
Shot attempts were 15-7 in favor of the Bulldogs with shots on goal 12-4 in Truman's favor. Burdsall was the only Greyhound with multiple shot attempts on the day.
Â
Making her 30
th consecutive start in net for the Hounds,
Emma Crenshaw made nine stops on the afternoon. At the other end, Mattingly turned aside all four shots she faced before being lifted with time running out in the game.

COACHES' CORNER
Head coach
Holly Cox: "I thought we payed pretty well today against a really good side. The final result won't show it, but we did some good things today. We just weren't consistent enough to get the result we wanted. We have some time this week to keep working on being more technical around the net as we get ready for this coming weekend."
UP NEXT
The Greyhounds will be back at home as they look to snap a four-game slide this coming Friday night against Missouri-St. Louis. Kickoff from Key Stadium is set for 5:00 p.m.
