Golf adds Andrew Rusk through Team IMPACT

INDIANAPOLIS- UIndy golf added to its roster Tuesday, with nearby Brownsburg, Ind. product Andrew Rusk signing with the team through UIndy Athletics' ongoing partnership with Team IMPACT.

"I couldn't be more proud of my team right now for what they are doing," Head men's and women's golf coach Brent Nicoson said during Rusk's signing event. "This is an important day for our golf program as well as the Rusk family. When I first met Andrew and his family I knew they would be a perfect fit for us. We will learn more from him and his family than they will learn from us, that's for sure."

Following Nicoson's remarks, Andrew signed his letter of intent, officially becoming a Greyhound. He then received further welcome from Greyhound senior Andrew VanAelst and some team gear for him and his family. The newest Greyhound and his teammates then closed the evening with cake and punch, as well as brownies Rusk prepared himself for his new teammates and friends.

Rusk joins five other Team IMPACT student-athletes included on the Greyhound rosters. The newest Greyhound golfer joins Braden on the men's soccer team, Rory on the women's soccer team, Owen on the baseball team, John on the men's basketball team and Bailey on the swimming and diving teams in making commitments to UIndy through Team IMPACT.

Team IMPACT is a New England-based organization that seeks to pair children with life-threatening diseases and injuries with university and college sport teams as a social aspect to their lives.

The UIndy golf teams await the beginning of the spring championship season after the first of the year.
