ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Trailing by as many as 25 points in the first half, the University of Indianapolis women's basketball team was able to close the gap to one possession in the second half before falling to No. 6 ranked Lewis, 64-55, on Thursday night.

Four Greyhounds recorded double-figures for the first time this year, led by 15 points from
Princess German.
Ashley Montanez set a new career high with 13 points, a number that was matched by her front court partner,
Nicole Anderson.
Sarah Costello added 12 for the Hounds, who fell to 7-19 on the year and 5-11 in the GLVC.

Lewis extended their winning streak to 20 games, improving to 25-1 and a perfect 16-0 in league play. The post duo of Mariyah Brawner-Henley and Jessica Kelliher had 16 points each and were joined in double figures by Tiana Karopulos (14 pts) and Kayla Brewer (10 pts).

The Flyers got off to a hot start while the Greyhounds struggled to get going offensively. Lewis opened the game by scoring the first 11 points before the Hounds got on the board thanks to a Montanez layup at the 5:55 mark. The Greyhounds would shoot just 2-for-11 from the floor in the opening quarter while Lewis went 9-for-12 in the opening 10 minutes to take a 25-8 lead after one.

Lewis slowed down on offense in the second quarter, but the Greyhounds remained ice cold from the floor. The Flyers would extend their lead to 38-18 at the break, holding the Hounds without a point from the 6:59 mark until
Darion Hutchinson snapped the drought with a layup with 38 seconds left in the half.
Sarah Costello closed out the half by knocking down her third three pointer of the opening 20 minutes at the horn.

When the second half began, the teams reversed roles as the Greyhounds began to chip away at the lead while Lewis couldn't find the bucket. The Greyhounds held the Flyers without a point for over eight minutes to open the quarter until a Kayla Brewer jumper with 1:47 left made it a 40-27 game. When the third quarter horn sounded, the Flyers held a 44-32 advantage.

UIndy's offense started to find their groove when the fourth quarter began, opening the final 10 minutes on a 12-4 run to trim the Flyers' lead to 48-44 with 5:41 to play. UIndy got even closer when a Costello three pointer made it 56-53 with 1:57 to go, but the Hounds were only able to manage one bucket the rest of the way as Lewis closed the game out at the line.

They Greyhounds shot 32.7 percent (17-for-52) from the floor, connecting on 7 of 23 three pointers and 14 of 20 free throw attempts. After allowing the Flyers to shoot over 50 percent from the floor in the opening half, the Hounds buckled down to limit Lewis to 44.7 percent (21-for-47) from the floor on the night. The Flyers went 3-for-11 from deep and 19-for-27 at the line.

Montanez grabbed a game-high nine rebounds and
Devin Ferguson matched her career high with seven boards as the Hounds held a 35-30 advantage on the glass. The Flyers held a slim edge in the turnover battle, forcing 12 UIndy mistakes while coughing up the ball just 11 times.

The Greyhounds will play their final regular season road game of the year on Saturday afternoon, heading to Kenosha, Wis. for a rematch against the Rangers of Wisconsin-Parkside. The two teams met back on Dec. 3 in Indianapolis with the Rangers picking up a 68-61 win.
