LEBANON, Ill. – University of Indianapolis head baseball coach Gary Vaught recorded his 900th career win on Saturday afternoon as the Greyhounds closed out their first conference road trip of the year with a split against McKendree on Saturday.
Â
Vaught, now in his 27th year as a head coach, hit the milestone number after the Greyhounds (21-9, 8-4 GLVC) rallied from behind in game two for a 13-7 win. McKendree (12-19, 4-8) picked up an 8-3 win to open up the day.
Â
Devon Hensley homered twice and drove in five runs in game two, belting his first career grand slam to put the game out of reach.
Carter Pranger went 5-for-5 in the second contest, belting the first two home runs of his UIndy career.

GAME ONE | McK 8, Uindy 3
The Bearcats used the long ball to take the lead in game one, getting a three-run shot off the bat of Chris Deaville with one out in the inning. The Bearcats continued to pile on to the lead, adding two more runs in the fourth and another trio in the fifth to make it 8-0.
Â
Storm Joop got the Greyhounds on the board in top of the sixth, depositing a 2-0 pitch over the fence for a three-run blast – the first round tripper of the sophomore third baseman's career.
Â
But the Greyhounds managed only three hits off Bearcat starter Nick Yung, as
Brendan Dudas and
Dylan Jones were the only other Hounds to record a base knock.
Â
Connor Mailloux (2-3) took the loss for UIndy, surrendering seven earned runs on eight hits with three walks and a pair of strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings of work.
Â
GAME TWO | UIndy 13, McK 7
The Greyhounds managed three hits through the first two innings in game two but couldn't bring a run home, while the Bearcats tacked on three runs in their first two trips to the dish.
Â
The floodgates opened for the Greyhounds in the top of the third, however, with Hensley's leadoff home run starting the rally. Later in the inning, the Hounds trimmed the lead to 3-2 with a sac fly from
Kyle Orloff.
Â
McKendree added single runs in the third and fourth innings to extend the lead back to three, but the Hounds answered in the fifth, getting an RBI single from Orloff and plating two runs on a two-out error that tied it up.
Â
The offense kept it going in the sixth, getting a leadoff homer from Pranger to take the lead for good.
Alex Ritchie added an RBI later in the inning to put the Hounds up by a pair.
Â
Pranger left the yard again in the seventh, launching a missile over the left field wall to socre two. Hensley continued the onslaught in the ninth with the bags full, taking an 0-1 pitch and sending it over the wall in dead center field for his fourth homer of the year. McKendree's Grant Anderson launched a two-run shot in the bottom of the ninth, but it was too little, too late for the Bearcats.
Â
UIndy starter
Michael Schalasky lasted just 2 1/3 innings, allowing two earned runs on two hits with a pair of walks and two strikeouts. Five members of the Greyhound bullpen combined to seal the win, with
James Frascella working 2 1/3 innings of one-hit ball to earn his first career victory.
Â
Dylan Stutsman fanned four over the final three innings to earn his ninth save of the season.
