SALEM, W.V. – The Greyhound women's soccer team got off to a fast start in their season opener and never looked back, setting a single-game program record for goals scored in a 17-0 win over Salem International.

Ten different Greyhounds notched a goal and six different players scored their first goals in the crimson and grey. UIndy also matched the 15th highest single-game goal total in Division II history with the win.

GAME CHANGER
Sierra Singer needed just 17 seconds to pot the game-winning goal, taking a lead pass from Stephanie Burdsall before and depositing the ball into the cage for the first goal of the year. Singer would add tallies in the 14th and 18th minutes for her first career hat trick. She would also pick up her first career assist on Burdsall's goal in the 20th minute to finish with a career-high seven points.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
Burdsall matched Singer on the score sheet with three goals of her own, as well as her first career assist. The sophomore found the back of the net in the 14th, 20th and 23rd minutes and added a helper on Michele Govern's first career goal.

In addition to the two hat tricks, UIndy got goals from Govern ('20), Kacey Wells ('21, '80), Rebecca Riley ('28), Elizabeth Behrends ('37, '41), Amanda Meyer ('51, '60), Hannah Mangus ('74), Celine Ehret ('76) and Sam Enloe ('85). Govern, Riley, Meyer, Mangus, Ehret and Enloe each netted their first career goals.

Additionally, eight different Greyhounds notched at least one assist on the day. Wells and Enloe both recorded two helpers while Burdsall, Singer, Govern, Behrends, Alyssa Baker and Jordyn Schoen finished with one assist each.

Emma Crenshaw and Caitlynn MacKenzie split time between the pipes and combined to earn a shutout. Neither keeper needed to make a save on the afternoon.

Eight different players made their UIndy debuts on Saturday afternoon with Baker, Enloe, MacKenzie, Ehret, Schoen, Meyer, Jimmie Bowman and Carah Kreimer taking the pitch for the first time as Greyhounds.

COACHES' CORNER
Head Coach Holly Cox: "We played well today and we created so many opportunities and that was an area of emphasis for us coming into this year. We were able to not just create chances but put them away as well and that was a facet of the game we really struggled with last year. So it was great to see."

"Our back line moved the ball around really well and that's going to be critical for us as we go forward with our season. We had some young players see their first college action at an important position and they handled it really well."

"We've got a tough game coming up on Tuesday against Saginaw Valley and we want our team to take every bit of momentum from this game that they can. It's great to win and to be part of program history but we know this is just the beginning and we're looking forward to the challenges ahead."

UP NEXT
UIndy will have their final non-conference tune-up on Tuesday, Sept. 6 when they head to Saginaw, Mich. to take on the Cardinals of Saginaw Valley State. Kickoff is set for 2:00 p.m.
