KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The UIndy volleyball team lost its third consecutive match on Friday evening, dropping a three-setter to Truman State. The setback sends the Greyhounds to 12-13 overall and 7-5 in GLVC play.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Greyhounds trailed 17-9 in the first set, but got within six points with an
Alyssa Spears and
Teigan Flaws kill. A kill from
Mary Grace Ertel and a Truman attacking error gave UIndy 18 points, but the Bulldogs would go onto win, 25-18.
Â
The second set mirrored the opener, in that the Greyhounds trailed early. UIndy took advantage of more attacking errors by Truman to only trail 12-9, and got within one at 18-17 after a service ace by
Katie Voelz and kills by
Anna Fehribach and
Julia Kruzan. The Greyhounds' rally was stopped short, however, as the Bulldogs won the final six rallies to take a two-set advantage.
Â
The teams exchanged points for the first half of the third frame until Kruzan capped a short 3-0 run to give the visitors the lead. A kill by Fehribach put UIndy ahead 19-18, but the Truman offense flexed its muscles again to score five of the six final points to finish off the sweep.
