HOW IT HAPPENED
Facing an undefeated Eagles' team (8-0, 2-0) that is receiving votes in the latest Division II coaches poll, the Greyhounds got off to their best start of the season. They outscored USI 13-5 in the first five minutes and went on to lead 41-37 at the break, marking the highest first-half point total by a USI opponent this year.
Â
Three Greyhounds hit double figures in the first 20 minutes; both Burse and
Taylor Drury had 12 points to lead the way, followed by
Ashley Montanez with 10.
Â
The Eagles asserted themselves in the third quarter, however, out-pacing their hosts 21-5 to take control. USI senior Morgan Dahlstrom, who finished with a game-high 35 points, went 4 for 5 from the field in the pivotal period, while UIndy shot just 1-for-12 as a team.
Â
The Eagles' lead reached a high of 17 points with 4:19 to go, but the Hounds clawed back with a furious 12-2 run. Burse hit a pair of 3-pointers to fuel the spurt, but the Hounds would not get closer than the seven-point final.

HOUND BYTES
Head Coach Kristin Wodrich…
"Our kids battled. I was really proud of them today. They played really hard, and we're playing a team that was picked to win our side of the league and they're ranked in the country right now, and our kids came out and they fought and they played hard. They're getting better every day and that's all we can ask right now from them."
