ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The UIndy women's basketball team (1-8, 0-3 GLVC) returned to the road Thursday night, falling 65-49 at fellow GLVC East-member Lewis University. Injuries limited UIndy to just seven players on the night in the Greyhounds' sixth away contest in the last seven games.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
After falling behind 10-2 in the early going, the Hounds broke off an 11-2 run to take the lead. They would stay in front for the majority of the first half, including leading 29-26 at the break.
Â
The Flyers came out clicking, however, as the home team started the third quarter with a 15-3 spurt to take control. Lewis would outscore the Greyhounds 20-8 in the third to lead 46-37 heading into the final period.
Â
UIndy's shortened bench didn't help matters as the Hounds would go on to score just 20 points in the second half. Senior
Martha Burse was once again the Hounds' leading scorer, as she finished with 17 points and four steals. Senior
Ashley Montanez compiled 11 points and a game-high 13 rebounds.
Â

- UIndy held the Flyers to just 19 percent shooting from behind the arc (4-21).

HOUND BYTES
Head Coach Kristin Wodrich
"We got some good looks in the second half and our girls played hard, but our shots just didn't fall. We didn't rebound particularly well, and I could tell we got a little gassed down the stretch."

UP NEXT
The Greyhounds start a four-game stretch of non-conference games Saturday when they host in-region Oakland City at 1 p.m. ET.
