INDIANAPOLIS- With the fall competitive season complete, the UIndy men's and women's tennis teams have kept themselves busy helping a pair of local organizations.
Both the men's and women's team joined forces to volunteer at the Monumental Marathon Nov. 3, helping man the gear check tent at the event downtown. In addition to helping at the gear check, the Greyhounds also were on hand to cheer on their own
Pam Brito Torres, who ran the event.
"We really enjoyed enjoyed helping the participating athletes prepare for their race and even cheer on one of our own as Pam ran the race," Women's Tennis SAAC Representative
Chloe Weihs said.
The following two weekends, the women's and men's team helped out with setup at Growing Places Indy's weekly Winter Farmer's Market. The Greyhounds assisted the vendors at the market with setup, and also helped shoppers carry their purchases once the market opened for business.
"I think the whole team really enjoyed helping our community today," Men's Tennis SAAC Representative
Matej Kostadinov said. "Growing Places Indy provides a neat little venue for local farmers and small businesses to sell their individual products. It was nice to see all the different kinds of products and have a chat with the farmers. We would definitely come back again."
UIndy is in practice mode through the end of the calendar year and into next January, with the spring competition season opening the beginning of February.
