WESTFIELD. Ind. – The UIndy softball team (7-3) split a pair of region contests Saturday at Westfield, Ind. Displaced to the turf field pf Grand Park, the Greyhounds blanked Cedarville, 5-0, before falling 4-3 to Purdue Northwest.
 
UIndy 5, Cedarville 0
The Greyhounds jumped on the Lady Jackets with three runs in the bottom of the first. Three of the first four batters reached safely, with 
Cathy Skaggs delivering a sacrifice fly and 
Gianni Iannantone following with a two-run single.
 
Later, Skaggs capped the scoring with a pair of ribbies coming on a fifth-inning single.
 
Meanwhile, pitchers 
Lauren Honkomp and 
Katelyn Fisher combined for a two-hit shutout. Honkomp struck out four in five scoreless innings of work, while Fisher closed out the win with two hitless frames.
 
Purdue Northwest 4, UIndy 3
Facing a team they had defeated just seven days prior, the Hounds fell behind 3-0 in the second after a couple walks and an error fueled a rally for the Pride.
 
The teams traded scoreless innings until the seventh when the Greyhounds erased the deficit with three late tallies. Skaggs sparked the action with a leadoff walk. 
Brooke Riess followed with a single ahead of a clutch two-run, pinch-hit triple from freshman 
Taylor Danielson. Freshman 
Brooke Montgomery would cap the rally with a sac fly.
 
With the scored knotted at 3-3 heading into the bottom of the seventh. A leadoff single by the Pride eventually came around on a fielding error, with the unearned run good for the game winner.
 
UIndy has two more days of doubleheaders scheduled at Grand Park. The Hounds will face GLIAC-foes Saginaw Valley and Ferris State Sunday starting at 2:15 p.m.
