INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy women's basketball team (7-16, 4-9 GLVC) endured a 70-63 loss to Maryville at Nicoson Hall Saturday afternoon. The visiting Saints (7-12, 4-9) knocked down 18 of 19 second-half free throw attempts to help secure victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Greyhounds went ahead midway through the first quarter and stayed in front for the next 25-plus minutes of play. UIndy used a pair of 9-0 runs to cultivate the lead, including one that upped the margin to 12 early in the third quarter.

A slew of whistles began to plague the Hounds from there, however. The Saints went to the line 13 times in the third quarter alone, knocking down all 13 to pull within one heading into the fourth.

Maryville took the lead early in the fourth quarter and held off the Greyhounds after they shot just 22 percent from the field in the final period.

Martha Burse, who was honored before the tip for scoring her 1,000th point as a Greyhound last Thursday, put up a game-high 21 points to go with six rebounds.

Devin Ferguson appeared on pace for a triple-double until foul trouble derailed the notion. The hometown product compiled eight points, seven rebounds and five assists in 28 minutes.

Tina Negoescu amassed 10 points while junior
Erin Wood grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds. The latter matched Ferguson's eight points, as did freshman
Taylor Drury.

- Drury, Negoescu and Wood combined to shot 12 for 20 (.600) from the floor.
- The Hounds were charged with 23 personal fouls, while the Saints garnered 10.
